The rich countries like the US & the UK want the vaccines for themselves and are not ready to share them with the developing and poor countries.
A proposal led by India and South Africa has been blocked by the United States and the United Kingdom. The proposal was presented at the World Trade Organization (WTO) to waive the IP rights of pharmaceutical companies to allow developing countries to produce COVID-19 vaccines.
Currently, the United States is facing pressure from across the globe to support the temporary patent waiver which would essentially help many countries that are currently struggling with a surge in cases.
On top of that, even Bill Gates has come out and said no to sharing vaccine formulas with the developing world.
Bill Gates is the same man who had advocated for pandemic preparedness for years. Yet, the businessman behind the philanthropist cannot resist the billions that can be made through the vaccines in the next couple of years.
Gates is being accused of withholding vaccine recipes from developing nations. A few days ago a newspaper headline said “Bill Gates under fire for saying vaccine formulas shouldn’t be shared with developing world”.
It is reported that US has over 550 million extra doses of the Covid-19 vaccines. These rich countries are hoarding vaccines and on the other hand, the developing and poor countries don’t have vaccines.
They are not ready to share the vaccines nor they are ready to share the patents of the vaccines.
They want to vaccinate their people, which is a good thing but they don’t want others to make the vaccines because they want the world to buy only from them. If they share the formula then they won’t be able to make money.
So basically you wait till these rich countries get their people vaccinated and then they will manufacture for other countries and sell it to them because others won’t be allowed to manufacture vaccines till then.
The real faces are being revealed and if even now we are not able to see then…….
