Kumbh Mela is a mass Hindu pilgrimage of faith in which Hindus gather to bathe in a sacred or holy river. Traditionally, four fairs are widely recognized as the Kumbh Melas: the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, Haridwar Kumbh Mela, the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha, and Ujjain Simhastha. These four fairs are held periodically at one of the following places by rotation: Allahabad (Prayagraj), Haridwar, Nashik district (Nashik and Trimbak), and Ujjain. The main festival site is located on the banks of a river: the Ganges (Ganga) at Haridwar; the confluence (Sangam) of the Ganges and the Yamuna and the invisible Sarasvati at Allahabad; the Godavari at Nashik; and the Shipra at Ujjain. Bathing in these rivers is thought to cleanse a person of all their sins & restore purity.
The Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj witnessed the last dip at the Sangam on Monday. The Kumbh Mela which began on January 15 will concludedon the Mahashivratri, March 04. One of the largest religious gatherings in the world, Kumbh Mela was held in UP’s Prayagraj from January 15 to March 4 this year.
Kumbh Mela has, over the years, garnered fame as “the world’s most massive act of faith.” Now, the UNESCO has recognised the spiritual festival as an “intangible cultural heritage of humanity”. Thousands of devotees gather at either of the four locations—the Haridwar, Allahabad, Nashik-Trimbakeshwar, and Ujjain Simhastha—to bathe in the Ganges, with the hope of being freed from their past sins (karma), thereby becoming eligible for liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
Kumbh Mela authority sets Guinness World Record by undertaking massive sanitation work :
Over 10,000 people engaged in cleaning and sanitation activities at the same on different venues, setting up a record for the “most people sweeping the floor.”
The Kumbh 2019 concluded with one more record for “most contribution to a handprint painting in hours,” featuring 7,664 people participated. The last record for handprint painting was held by Seoul in which 4,675 people were there.

Kumbh Mela 2019 was a 49 days spectacle and it was organised really well. All the security personals should be applauded for making this event a secure and safe one. The other officials also did great job in keeping things organised – considering that over 240 million people came from all parts of the world to participate in Kumbh Mela this year.
We are proud of our culture & our country.
