Janta Curfew was an effort to reduce corona-virus spread, introduced by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, in the wake of the wake of the 2020 corona-virus pandemic in India. The Janta curfew was a 14 hour curfew that was scheduled for 22 March 2020. Everyone except people of ‘essential services’ such as Police, Medical service, Media, Home delivery professionals and Firefights were needed to take part in the curfew. Some states have taken further precautions like shutdown of Metro Trains, Buses and Monorail services. Only employees that work for essential services are allowed to board local trains.
Ahmadabad city Police booked 20 persons including three women including three women in Khadia locality for taking out a rally and participating in ‘garba’ on Sunday evening, on the day of Janta Curfew. People throng in streets in huge numbers at 5 pm in Khadia locality in the Walled area of the old city of Ahmadabad. They took out a rally and some people played garba while beating plates with bowls.
Misinformation that the government is spreading ‘anti corona’ drug in the country during Janta curfew went viral on social media. There are few myths that surfaced on Corona virus-
1. Spraying chlorine or alcohol on skin kills viruses in the body.
2. Only older adults and young people are at risk.
3. Children cannot catch COVID – 19.
4. COVID – 19 is just like a flu.
5. Everyone with COVID – 19 dies.
6. Cats and dogs spread Corona.
7. Face Masks protects against Corona.
8. Hand dryers kill Corona.
9. You can protect yourself by gargling bleach.
10. Garlic protects against corona virus,
11, Parcels from China can spread Corona virus.
12. The virus will die of when temperature rise in the spring.
13. The virus originated in a laboratory in China.
