I love sports – cricket, football, tennis, badminton, etc. And as a sports enthusiast I relish games when the opponents are high quality and the matches are not one-sided or below-par.
UEFA Champions League started today and it was mesmerizing. One match after the other and every match giving me something to cheer as a football fan.
Messi scores a hat-trick but the pick of the goals were a Free kick from Messi & a solo goal from Dembele. Beautiful goals!
The other match between Inter Milan & Tottenham Hotspur turned on its head in the last 10mins. Inter were losing 0-1 and went onto win 2-1. What a fighting spirit!!
Atletico Madrid came back from a goal down to win 2-1 against Monaco. Last year’s Europa Champions gets off to a winning start.
But for me the match of the day was Liverpool vs PSG. The match lived upto its expectation. Two free-flowing teams with deadly attaching trio. Today Firmino didn’t start but his substitute Sturridge who started the match – also opened the scoring. Milner took a penalty & did put Liverpool in the commanding position of 2-0 but PSG fought back with a goal from Meunier. The match went to the wire when Mbappe equaled the score line to 2-2 at 83rd minute. Firmino came from the bench and scored the winning goal in the added time – a script perfect for this kind of a match. High scoring – exciting – 2 great teams – great finish.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first day of the UEFA Champions League and hope to continue the flow of great matches on the 2nd day as well. See you tomorrow.
