Betrayal which no one saw coming!
Laporta is a lawyer and trusting a lawyer was a big mistake. He promised to keep Messi at FC Barcelona during his campaign and treated Messi as if he was the crowning jewel of FC Barcelona. And when the time came to fulfill his promise, he sacrificed him. Of all the players that could have been sacrificed, he chose Messi. He is the president of this club for over 6 months now – knows the books and how bad they were. Still gave us hope to the very last moment, though he would have known what and how to get things right, but still didn’t. Signed 5 players this summer, but sacrificed the G.O.A.T.
The CVC deal is supposedly could have solved this problem, but he sighted some reasons which Tebas (La Liga President) dismissed on Twitter. Who knows what is true and what is a lie!!! It is said that Messi was sacrificed as he wanted to keep the Super League alive along with Perez (Real Madrid President). But I am sure of one thing that Laporta knew the problems all along, he also knows how to solve them or go around them – but for some vested interest he didn’t and made a fool out of Messi and the fans and the members who voted for him. For FC Barcelona, Leo Messi is Mr.Barcelona. He is the reason FC Barcelona is even counted amongst the best clubs in the world right now. I am not at all exaggerating but without Messi, I don’t see FC Barcelona as a top club in the world. Leo Messi has been carrying this club for last few years solely on his shoulder. I am sure that we all will notice a big dip in the following of FC Barcelona since there were many Messi fans who followed FC Barcelona just because of him.
La Liga Without Messi?
La Liga lost Sergio Ramos, Zidane, Varane and now Messi. The viewership dipped since the departure of Ronaldo in 2018. Leo Messi was the biggest star and also the biggest attraction for millions around the globe. With his departure, La Liga is going to find it really difficult to get world wide viewership. They might have decent viewership in Spain itself but the global audience which Messi attracted will not be there anymore.
There was a time when El Classicos were something people around globe looked forward to. Ronaldinho vs Zidane. Messi vs Cristiano. Now El Classico means Depay vs Vinicious Jr. No disrespect to these players but they also know that they don’t belong to that level.
