Hindustan Unilever tweeted: “#KumbhMela is a place where old people get abandoned, isn’t it sad that we do not care for our elders?”
Hindustan Unilever Limited is a subsidiary of Unilever, a British-Dutch company. HUL is a consumer goods company with India Head office in Mumbai, Maharashtra. HUL’s products include foods, beverages, cleaning agents, personal care products and water purifiers.
Kumbh is the largest gathering of people with a religious sentiment attached to it. 25 crore people attended this Kumbh Mela. Some people even got lost in this massive gathering but thanks to technology they again re-united with their respective families.
In our culture family is of utmost importance with parents respected like Gods. This is a direct conclusion by the Hindustan Unilever that Kumbh Mela is a place where old people are abandoned by their children. This is not only wrong but really sad too.

You do not play with religious sentiments. This was a very irresponsible and insensitive tweet by the company and hence the backlash. Twitter is trending with #BoycottHindustanUnilever.
